I will be starting work with TAG students within the next week or two. During our first class a letter will go home that will ask students and parents to review the expectations for participating in this program. I am excited to see what students will chose to work on within the options provided. Grade 3 students will work on a Project Based Learning activity and grade 4 students will be focusing on researching a topic of interest. All students will have opportunities to work creatively and collaboratively. They will also use critical thinking skills to advance in whatever task they are given.
Math enrichment will also be starting soon. These groups fluctuate throughout the year based on student performance and data provided from the pretests given for each unit. The work we do within these small groups are an extension of the content and build upon the concepts that these students have already mastered.
I also will be working with teachers and students as we continue to role out the Project Lead the Way science curriculum. Last year I worked with grades K-2 and this year I will be working with grades 2 and 3. The K-2 units that were introduced last year will now be taught within the classrooms rather than in the L.E.A.P. room. I am still involved with these units by continuously collaborating with all teachers.
As you can see, I am very excited to start the school year and work closely with the students and staff here once again!
